This work, painted in 1617 for the church of Sant’Antonio in Bologna, is representative of the artist’s most creative period. During these years, he also completed frescoes in San Michele in Bosco (1614) and a celebrated canvas for the chapel of San Domenico.
The painting is now housed in the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna.
