La Madonna che piange Gesù morto (1635)

La Madonna che piange Gesù morto

Initially listed as a copy in the 1796 inventory of Count Giacomo Zambeccari’s paintings, this canvas was later recognized as an autograph work by Tiarini. The scene is marked by dramatic intensity, emphasized by dark tones, a sharply angled perspective, and the strong foreshortening of Christ’s body, toward which the Virgin reaches.

The painting is housed in the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna and dated between 1635 and 1640.
